Christian Pulisic has singled out Chelsea teammate Ross Barkley for his fair share of adulation after the midfielder’s superb performance against RB Salzburg, report the Express.
Watching Barkley’s performance on Wednesday night, you could be forgiven for thinking that we’d signed the reincarnation of David Beckham himself.
He looked like a completely different player to the one that we saw under Maurizio Sarri last season, who was often ineffective and frustrating.
Barkley provided two glorious assists on the night, as well as finding the back of the net himself from the penalty spot.
His finest moment, though, was the pass he provided for Pulisic’s second goal of the game. It was utterly sublime, and Pulisic is extremely grateful.
The American is quoted by the Express saying:
“He’s an easy guy to play with. I wasn’t sure he was going to see that pass for the goal. But he picked me out from, I don’t know how far away it was. It was perfect. I kind of received the ball with my face but it was good. We had a good connection. I made the run and thought ’please make the pass’ and he did, it was perfect.”
Pulisic is going to be making these kind of runs all season. If you get him the ball in behind, he will score plenty of goals. On recent evidence, we have confidence that Barkley will find him.
