Chelsea have rejected a £25M bid from Crystal Palace for right-back Reece James, as their quest to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka continues, according to a report published by the Independent.
James is currently recovering from an ankle injury he suffered while competing at the Toulon tournament with England, but is expected to be back in action soon into the new campaign.
With Palace losing the highly coveted Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United earlier in the transfer window, Roy Hodgson finds himself with a void which needs to be filled at right-back.
As per the Independent, James has been identified as the ideal successor, with Palace placing a bid in the region of £25M for the talented 19-year-old. A bid which has been rejected.
Chelsea appear intent on hanging onto James, who looks to be the ideal successor to Cesar Azpilcueta on the right side of our defence. That could be the Frank Lampard influence coming into play.
