Chelsea youngster’s ‘advanced’ Premier League switch collapses over David Luiz deal

Fikayo Tomori was close to signing for Everton on loan, but David Luiz’s proposed move to Arsenal has seen the move collapse, according to Standard Sport.

Tomori spent last season out on loan with the Frank Lampard led Derby County, with a loan in the Premier League the natural next step for the England U21 international.

As per Standard Sport, Tomori was set to sign for Everton on loan, where he likely would have been given the opportunity to play regular first-team football this season.

However, the report claims that David Luiz pushing for a transfer to Arsenal has seen Tomori’s switch to Everton, which was thought to be ‘advanced’, collapse.

Tomori may be disappointed that he hasn’t got his loan move, but a chance to stay at Chelsea and continue to develop under Lampard could be invaluable for him.

He is the future of our defence, while Luiz is the past. Chelsea fans should not be shedding any tears over this saga, which will prove beneficial for us long-term.
