Mason Mount was mightily close to winning it for Chelsea against Liverpool last night, having fired emphatically into the bottom corner of Adrian’s goal.
Manager Frank Lampard has a great deal of faith in young Mason. Having managed him at Derby County last term, he knows exactly what he’s capable of producing.
Mount gave us a taster of what he can do against Liverpool last night, driving home a brilliant finish past Adrian with less than 10 minutes left on the clock.
Unfortunately for him, he was ruled offside in the buildup to the goal, just as teammate Christian Pulisic was earlier in the contest. See the finish here, regardless.

We haven’t had a midfielder capable of finishing like that in a very long time, so even if the goal wasn’t allowed to stand, it certainly bodes well for us and him going forward.
The only problem for Lampard is, after so many encouraging performances, how on Earth is he going to fit everyone into the starting side going forward?
