Frank Lampard has hailed the impact of Chelsea academy products Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount, who were both introduced as substitutes in the second half of yesterday’s Super Cup defeat.
Both Abraham and Mount were granted the opportunity to start from the beginning in our Premier League opening fixture against Manchester United, which as you well know, we lost 4-0.
Neither player was included in the starting eleven for last night’s Super Cup clash with Liverpool, but Lampard opted to bring both of them on with the scores level in the second half.
Despite Abraham missing the decisive penalty, which handed Liverpool the trophy, Lampard was mightily impressed with what he saw from the pair, as he revealed to the media after the game.
Lampard on BT Sport: "Mason and Tammy gave us another dimension when they came on. Energy, legs, quality. Tammy needs to keep his head up because it's part and parcel of being a top player. You stand up and want to take the fifth penalty, you might miss it."

If anything, we have to see it as a positive that Abraham was prepared to step forward and take the responsibility of taking the fifth penalty, which he knew had a great deal of pressure on it.
These things happen, and it certainly won’t define his Chelsea career.
