Thomas Tuchel has been on the warpath in recent weeks because of the Premier League’s persistence with a 3 substitute policy, rather than allowing 5 like most other major leagues have.
The manager’s opinion is clearly rubbing off on his players – vice captain Jorginho wasn’t biting his tongue when he spoke to BeinSports ahead of tonight’s game against Brighton.
He said it was “insane” that clubs were still limited despite squads being crippled by Covid. He’s one of those who has had to suffer most – by avoiding illness and injury he’s been forced to twice a week for months now.
You can see the midfielder speaking in the clip embedded here:
🗣️ "We have just three subs… It's insane that we don't go for five."
Jorginho expresses his concerns on player welfare due to a congested fixture list, saying the "quality of the game" could potentially be impacted.
