Chelsea’s missing pieces were their stars of the season according to stats site

After each week in the Premier League we like to look up who WhoScored rated as the best Chelsea player in that game.

With the season over, we can now look back at the players’ average ratings from the whole season and see who was – according to them – our star of the season.

The answer, in a way, is obvious, but incredibly painful for Chelsea fans.

Their number one player by average rating was Ben Chilwell, whose early season injury meant he started only 6 games all year, and Reece James, who managed just 22. Given how key they are to the way Thomas Tuchel’s team plays, that’s just not enough.

All season we’ve heard endless “what ifs” about what might have happened if they’d been fit all year, and these numbers really just rub that in. Losing them cost us dearly, and we can only hope that next season we can get 30 plus games out of each of them and move forward in that way.

Le va bien en los cuartos de milla, pero en circuitos de carrera (Liga) se refleja el desgaste de la plantilla.
