Given Romelu Lukaku had his career best seasons under Antonio Conte at Inter Milan, we’ve been waiting for this moment.
Lukaku is now unhappy and struggling at Chelsea, while Conte has taken over Tottenham and got them into the Champions League.
So, inevitably, places like SportWitness are reporting on the idea that Chelsea could try and shift their mega money forward to Spurs.
Let’s make it clear why this is so impossible – number one, Tottenham have never spent anything like the money necessary to sign a player like Lukaku, and even a loan move (on the kinds of terms that Chelsea would accept) isn’t going to be feasible.
Number two – Chelsea are going to avoid selling to a direct rival for the Champions League places if possible.
Number three – Tottenham already have a fantastic striker in Harry Kane, and some brilliant attackers to go alongside him. They have far more important positions to strengthen in.
