Sevilla have long accepted they’ll be selling Jules Kounde to Chelsea, that’s the good news.
The Blues chased the defender last summer but couldn’t agree a deal. This year, things should be different. Local sources in Seville, translated by SportWitness, say that the Spanish side are ready to agree a €60-65m deal for the France defender.
That seems like a sum Chelsea can shake on. But there is one further speed bump.
Those same sources claim that Monchi, the Spanish club’s director of football, wants to sign a replacement for Kounde before he sells him.
That could seriously delay a deal, which is a blow for the Blues who will already feel they are somewhat being left behind in the transfer market after the sanctions hampered their preparations for the summer.
Rather than mess around for another window, the best solution is to just drop that €65m on the table and tell them to take it or leave it.
