Declan Rice is a Chelsea transfer target who has been talked about for almost as long as anyone.
As he’s got better and better with more Premier League experience those links have grown stronger, and his price tag has risen.
The takeover of Chelsea really slowed things down, and there’s a sense that other teams have caught up with us in our pursuit, but Dean Jones of Bleacher Report still insists that the Blue – and most importantly their manager – are still as keen as ever on signing Rice.
“The other one [Thomas] Tuchel really, really, really wants is Declan Rice. This is back on the table. Obviously, there is the huge issue of his fee,” the “insider” said in quotes picked up by This Is Futbol.
“So a lot of people are not really considering this transfer a thing at the moment. I am, I believe that this is one that might yet emerge.”
We have our doubt whether a transfer is possible this summer, given how much West Ham want to keep hold of Rice, and given how much leverage they have because of his long contract still to run.
But that looks almost sure now is that Chelsea want their former academy player, and if they will be ready to make an offer as good as anyone this summer.
Buy a different player must it be rice???
