Caughtoffside are among the many sites reporting on Everton’s interest in taking Billy Gilmour on loan this season.
Frankly, it sounds like people are just joining the dots all round. Frank Lampard is Everton boss, and he gave Gilmour his first senior appearances. Everton need a Gilmour-like player in their midfield, and Chelsea need a good destination for their young talent.
But those very facts which are encouraging sources to invent these rumours also happen to make it potentially a very smart move.
All those reasons are pretty spot on – and as much as Billy struggled at Norwich this year, we can really see him thriving with better players around him.
Everton fought relegation this season after a dreadful start, but this year things could be very different, especially with Billy orchestrating their midfield.
So, while we think the rumours so far are probably baseless – they could soon have a very solid base.
