Ousmane Dembele is a free agent, and will have his pick of many top clubs this summer.
According to sources in France today, he’s chosen Chelsea.
If it’s true, it’s easy to see why. We’re competing for the Champions League, we’ve got space for a winger in the first team, given our current options haven’t really convinced.
Then there’s the Thomas Tuchel connection – Dembele had his breakout season back at Dortmund with Tuchel as his coach.

All of it adds up to quite a convincing case for Dembele – but just because we’re hearing these whispers doesn’t mean we should get too excited. It’s in the ex-Barcelona attacker’s strong interest to keep his options open and keep the bidding war going.
In the meantime, Chelsea have to very seriously consider which of their current attacking options they’re going to shift before they start signing up new players on – presumably – massive wages.
