Chelsea don’t want to let go of any of their talented youngsters – they’ve been stung time and time again watching players they barely gave a chance to walk out the door and thrive elsewhere.
But you can’t keep all of your talents, and ruthless decisions have to be made every year.
Without doubt, some stars will walk away this summer, leaving some fans furious.
If Conor Gallagher or Armando Broja leave on permanent deals – and it’s perfectly possible that one or possible both do – there will be plenty of social media frustration.
But it may be a necessary evil, and there will be no shortage of suitors. Everton are certainly keen, and they have the money to buy them, plus the manager to convince them in the form of Frank Lampard.
Give Me Sport cite transfer “expert” Dean Jones in confirming that the Toffees are interested in both, and we can’t blame them. We’d much rather see them on loan, but in the end, you can’t keep them all.
If they have to succeed anywhere, it may as well be under Lampard at Everton.
