The Romelu Lukaku transfer story won’t go away. He’s not happy and Chelsea and wants a return to Inter Milan – as he freely admitted in his catastrophic interview in December.
The question is how to make it happen, given the Italian side’s struggles for money.
The latest report on the matter in Italy, translated by SportWitness, claims that Inter have a plan to break down the cost.
They describe it as a “double loan and then a redemption.”
That is to say, two seasons on loan with a loan fee, followed by a mandatory purchase by the Italians at the end of those two years.
That allows the cost to be spread over several years, plus means Chelsea will take the burden of some of his wages for those first two seasons.
On Chelsea’s part, it allows them to obfuscate a loss-making operation in the confusion of the complex setup.
Let him rot in the reserves, he signed an enormous 5 year contract, which cost Chelsea £97.5m and has given us nothing in return.
Now he expects Chelsea to let him go back to Milan, take an ridiculous loss on his transfer fee and to add insult to injury, Milan want Chelsea to pay most of his salary!
He’d be complaining to his union, the Premier League, the FA, UEFA and FIFA if Chelsea tried to alter his contract, sell him to Leyton Orient or cut his wages but it’s OK for him to try to wangle his way out of the Blues!
