Christian Pulisic is in a funny position at Chelsea.
He’s basically been disappointing throughout his time at the club, but one exceptional spell during “project restart” after the Covid break in 2020 has convinced everyone that he might still have what it takes to be a top player.
He’s not had many good games since then, and a sale this summer looks very possible as the Blues look to refresh their attacking options. There’s a lot of dead wood in wide areas, and if they get a good offer for Pulisic, it’s hard to imagine them ignoring it.
In the Athletic’s piece on Chelsea’s squad, they point out correctly that his contract situation is going to play a significant role too. It expires in two years time, meaning his price will start diminishing after this window passes.
Of course, the fact that our new owners are American may play a role too. Might that buy Captain America one last season to impress?
The media keeps printing the same stories about Pulisic, thinking like the American press if they say it enough, it must be true. Point of fact, last year Pulisic was one of Chelsea’s most efficient scorers; he makes their most creative runs; without his score and assist against Real in their 3-1 composite win, they likely don’t even get into the finals of the Champions League.

You say hes been dismal on some occasions yes doesnt help hes been used everywhere else instead of being in his preferred position. You can have him play in his preferred position once or twice and then when he doesnt produce say well that failed.
Mount plays his position time and time again and got better as the season went on.
You need consistency in the same position.
Also the selling point of shirts is laughable. teams dont make money on shirts and i cant give two shits about a shirt.

If the American owner wants to increase sales and marketing of the Chelsea FC in the USA, having a featured American player on the team is a very big deal.
As an American myself, I will root for whatever team Pulisic ends up playing on.
