Chelsea made a last ditch attempt to hijack Tottenham’s move to sign Everton forward Richarlison last night, according to reports today.
The Brazilian striker looks set to join Tottenham in a big money move, but Chelsea looked like they saw an opportunity and went for it.

You can never say never, but it looks like this was all in vain now and the Everton man is about to confirm his move to Spurs.
Details have been revealed on exactly what it was that Chelsea offered. Apparently the Blues were put off by the fee being quoted, so they tried to add a player into the deal as well.
Apparently though, it wasn’t enough to derail Tottenham’s deal for the player.

Chelsea have other attacking options that they are pursuing though, you’d expect them to be able to have no problem strengthening in that area of the pitch even if they have missed out on a late chance to sign Richarlison.

The days when Chelsea could outbid everybody except City are gone. The new owners won’t subsidise the club the way Abramovich did. So a lot more transfers are going to be lost than used to the case. Spurs seem to value Richarlison at a higher price than Chelsea, conversely Chelsea seem to value Raphinha at a higher price than Arsenal. That’s how normal transfer activity involving similarly funded clubs go, time always tells who got it right.
