Maxwell Cornet has been mentioned again in connection with Chelsea.
The Burnley winger has a release clause set at £17.5m according to a report in the Athletic this week, and after impressive for 6 months in the Premier League after arriving from Lyon, he’s likely to get a bit of interest.
We’re not sure he’s a top level player, but given how well our pursuit of other targets is going right now we may well end up getting desperate and fumble for his clause at the end of the window, if nobody else has taken a punt on him.
As part of read from @adjones_journo on Burnley’s transfer window, a nugget on #CFC’s interest in Maxwel Cornet. Has a release clause of just £17.5m so understandable why he’s being considered. Had a good first season in PL for a struggling side:https://t.co/CNaqks5zJN

More likely though, is the signing of Raheem Sterling at some point in the days to come, followed by the switch of our focus to other areas – at least until an attacker is sold.
Cornet may well return as a late window dash for depth, but we’re not expecting him to be at the top of our list this early in the summer.
