Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports rose to prominence during the takeover process, and he clearly has some good sources in the Todd Boehly camp, as his exclusives have continued even with the American consortium in place.
Today he’s reporting pretty confidently that Raheem Sterling will sign for Chelsea today, with an agreement having been reached last week and the final details hammered out in the last few days.
Chelsea will complete the signing of Raheem Sterling today. A verbal agreement has been in place since last week for a £45 million deal with add ons finalised this week. Deal could rise close to £55 million. Clubs always confident of a sale since never too far apart in valuation.

Sterling has been told “in meticulous detail” by Thomas Tuchel how he will be used, allowing him to confidently turn down any other interested parties and really believe that he’s best served by returning to him native London to play for the Blues.
Told Tuchel explained in “meticulous detail†his role in the team. Ronaldo’s potential arrival (should anything materialise) was not brought up by either.

There are more exotic and mysterious talents out there on the market this summer, but none with the record of goals and assists in the top flight that Sterling has.
Let’s hope it all works out as smoothly as we hope.
