Chelsea want a third defender after Ake and Koulibaly

This window is REALLY heating up now.

So far we’ve made no signings – yet in two weeks it wouldn’t be mad to hear we’ve made 3 or 4.

Raheem Sterling is done, Nathan Ake is close, today we’ve heard that Kalidou Koulibaly is in talks. But that’s not all – just now, Matt Law has Tweeted that Thomas Tuchel wants THREE new defenders this summer, with Ake and Koulibaly making up the first two parts of a major reinforcement that could see Presnel Kimpembe join too.

Thomas Tuchel knows the France defender from their time at PSG together, which fits with this new ownership’s existing strategy of basically giving the coach what he wants in this window. Until we have a director of football in place, that seems a wise move in any case.

The news that a third defender could be in the mix slightly dampens the sense that a back four is going to be our primary formation next season.
