It seems like a scenario and story that keeps popping up, Thomas Tuchel might actually be looking to switch formations this season.
Of course, we have seen him be very flexible with formations since his Chelsea arrival, but largely he has stuck to using a three at the back.

It has always been a thought whether he would prefer to use a back four formation, something he has used a lot in the past. This season, it looks like it genuinely might happen as long as he can get the players to suit the system.
And he’s already working on this by signing Raheem Sterling. According to The Athletic, Sterling can be used best in a back four system, namely a 4-3-3, which is something I personally really want to see. I do feel that we also still need to sign a defensive midfielder to use this formation well though.
But as you can see by the quote below, that was posted on The Athletic today, Tuchel is likely to switch.
