Preseason has begun, and that’s meaning a lot of access for journalists with Chelsea players after a couple of months with none.
Timo Werner has spent the summer with uncertainty surrounding his future, and that’s unlikely to change following his latest comments, as recorded by the Daily Mail.
The striker acknowledged that he hadn’t been Thomas Tuchel’s go to option for large parts of the season, and for the first time hinted that he could move elsewhere to establish himself again.
“I didn’t ask but I think of course the manager always has different ideas, different thoughts and what you need in different games, I think in many games I was not in his thoughts so I try to change that,” the former RB Leipzig striker said.
Asked whether he would prefer a move elsewhere, he opened the door by saying “I could be happy everywhere.”
“It is clear I want to play more and I should play more to first be in good shape for the World Cup and also, to have a chance to play at the World Cup,” the German striker continued strongly.
Flashes of great play haven’t been able to make up for an overall disappointing spell at Chelsea, and despite Tuchel’s best efforts Werner has not shone consistently.
We’re sure he can still be effective elsewhere, but the arrival of Raheem Sterling makes him feel very much like a spare part now.
Very true he is a good player not being utirised properly. With werner i dont think we need to waste money for another striker.
Let Werner maintain and Chelsea should not let pulisic leave the club they can rather allow Hakim ziyech leave but pulisic is a very important asset for the club and pulisic keeps on maturing every day.
