“It’s the same players” – Thomas Tuchel sends clear message to Todd Boehly

Thomas Tuchel has sent a very clear message to Chelsea’s new owners after a heavy defeat to London rivals Arsenal in their final pre-season tour match of America in the early hours of this morning.

It was a hugely concerning game to watch for Chelsea fans, even the most positive and upbeat ones, even the ones who discount pre-season friendlies as unimportant. There was something in the air amongst this Chelsea squad and the management, and something does not sit right at all ahead of a new season which starts in just 13 days time now.

Tuchel’s comments after the game were even more concerning, and it is clear that although he is happy with the two players he has signed so far, he is asking Todd Boehly and co for more, especially pointing at his attack, who he clearly does not rate.

Tuchel says another game with a lack of goals and goal scoring threat is because he has the same players who caused those issues last season.

“The analysing of the season does not change because of this game,” Tuchel said after the game as reported by Football London. “Unfortunately, it proved my point and the last week proves my point. I would prefer to not be right and I did everything to prove myself wrong, but at the moment I feel I was right when I look at the last season and at the parts of the game where we struggled and how we struggled.

“We got sanctioned and players left us, we know that some players are trying to leave us, and this is where it is. We had an urgent appeal for quality players and a huge amount of quality players. We’ve got two quality players – that is no doubt – but we are not competitive like this and unfortunately, we could see it today.

“For sure [I am concerned about lack of goalscoring]. If you look at the first half, it was even hard to escape our half in a productive way and to play in the opponent’s half in a positive way and create chances – we had one chance with a shot [that hit the post].

“But the amount of dangerous situations, the amount of one against ones, the amount of accelerations in the second half, where we dominated the game and were the better team in the first 22 minutes, but with their first action they score and we didn’t have too many dangerous situations [after that].

“Listen, it’s the same players, so why should anything change? We will see hopefully development but at the moment, we have the same issues because we have the same players.”

  1. Yes offcourse;and the same issue will keep on harming the team for the fact that this same players remain with the team, tuchel and new owner are slow in signing in players thinking that the team is OK. They should not worry. Chelsea as a club would definitely seeing themselves battleling not to be relegated next season’other clubs that already have quality players, are still busy in the market ;recruiting more players seriously”chelsea that did not have a single quality players except kante who knows what football means on the pitch…. Others are just their playing a selfish individual displayed. You could imagine team that was playing last season without a good finished stricker in front of goal is still out there busying for nothing with the summer transfer instead of being the one seriously bringing in more players in every position on pitch, fuck Chelsea?

  2. This Thomas should stop deceiving us with his those words of His, those plans of his does not work anymore he should get it right, if he doesn’t have another plan B, am so sorry to say his time is up, the players need refreshment means change of coach and everything will be absolutely fine that is the solution for now good luck blues

    1. He, TT is right and he tried changing formation but the players like Timo as an example do the same old. I’ve watched Timo in final against liverpool from my seat near corner flag, when he had ball in attack, Trent went and took ball off him every time. Timo doesn’t want it enough and you cannot coach that out of a player. You have a short memory, how TT turned chelsea from flood to champions league winners beating city 3 times in a row across 3 competitions. We are reigning Club World Cup and European Super Cup holders under TT. We need to move some players on and replace them with better. KTBFFH

    2. It’s upon him, Tuchel to convince Todd Boehly of where the team needs replenishing. Obviously two weeks to start the season doesn’t seem far away from here! He needs to speed up on the process!

  3. Changing from a back four to a back three made a big difference but our attack in the final third as usual could not penetrate the Arsenal defense. Also we lost goals to sloppy play and unforced errors.

  4. Have to go back to all those that criticised Lampard with not having a Plan B and no tactic prowess. Those comments are coming back to haunt us.
Tuchel picked the wrong team and formation to start with.
Emerson was a shambles and he also brought on Alonso but should have been Chilwell in there.
Had Havertz out there and he just stood around until team mates got on to him about closing down. Mount was being pulled out of position to do Havertz job for him but Havertz never covered Mounts position. Jorginho had made one good interception but other than that he just kept getting in the way of team mates. Mount was working hard off the ball making great runs between the lines but yet no one passed the ball in the first half to him apart from James.
Mendy was also shocking. What was he doing on the 2nd goal. Standing with the ball waiting for Arsenal to close out defence down. Then playing the ball forward into open space that only had an Arsenal player in there. Gallagher couldn’t play his normal game cos he was constantly having to stay back to help Emerson. As did Sterling at times. Werner kept getting moved around to accommodate Havertz which was wrong. I was a massive Havertz fan before we bought him. But he just isn’t doing a good enough job. His work rate is awful. I can think of a whole list of players that need to leave. And we need to bring through some young hungry talent from youth team.

  5. please don’t blame TT. I cringe when the names of Pulisic,Zyech and Werner are mentioned. The forward line is not working. I believe that Werner is a dud. When he plays,it seems that Chelsea are playing with 10 men. Chelsea need 6 players. The likes of Mallang Sarr should be sold or given away. Let Azpilicueta go,as well as Marco’s Alonso. We need a better midfield. Jorghino is too slow. Chelsea are in real trouble. We have so many mediocre players.

  6. All Chelsea need is another striker a goal getter or poacher I have one in mind.. Rafael Leao he is a super boy with Sterling in there they ll make a FORMIDABLE partnership .

  7. We gave Pulisic 10,that Jersey was before him worn by two players who where not affraid to take on opposition,Hazard had an amazing upper-body strength and even though he was the most fould no one would just run past him and take the ball like he’s not there or even just bully him off the ball. The same can’t be said with our current number 10. Werner wants player to better his world cup chances but what does he do when given a chance?… .Sorry we all can see the dead wait the team is carying and its costing us. Let them go if they want to go,there is no point in holding to them legend or not, clearly Aspi feels he’s achieved all he could with CFC.

  8. Once Chelsea continue with this squad they go no where this season, remove our new signing others in that front are doing nothing, midfield j5 is no j1 because he has no more strength to run,if not kante each ball we are going to collect wotowoto, please look for strike, havart is doing nothing up front,or give boja the chance to prove himself simple.
