Chelsea are turning their attentions to new defensive options after pulling out of the deal to sign Jules Kounde, leaving Barcelona with a free run.
Thomas Tuchel wants at least one more new defender to arrive this summer, and the work behind the scenes is ongoing for more.
The list of options we have been linked with seems endless, but there is one name that has come up again this week that is gathering a bit of pace, and Blues fans will be excited by this one.
As first reported exclusively by myself on my own platform, Chelsea are interested in Leicester City centre back Wesley Fofana, as also now confirmed by Sky Sports.
Chelsea interested in Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana – as per @siphillipssport… Fofana signed 2 year contract extension at Leicester in March. Deal runs until 2027. #Fofana #CFC #LCFC

“I’ve been told today that we will probably contact Leicester City to gauge a feeling on Wesley Fofana due to their need to sell players, and our recent interest.â€

Obviously due to his contract situation this isn’t a deal that is expected to be an easy one to do, or a cheap one, but it’s certainly worth an approach from Chelsea because he certainly ticks all the boxes.

Just signed a new 5 year contract.
Very happy at the club.
Of course…a quarter of a billion pounds would tempt us but even that is unlikely to bring about a transfer.
