Barcelona confirm another signing to worsen Chelsea’s summer spiral

FC Barcelona have made the signing of Jules Kounde official, confirming what we heard yesterday that a transfer deal with Sevilla had been verbally agreed.

The defenders becomes Xavi’s 6th signing of the summer, less than two weeks after a move to Chelsea looked certain. This is a hammer blow to our already delayed timetable of reinforcement. We can only imagine how frustrated Thomas Tuchel is feeling at the moment.

We’ve heard various versions of why Kounde didn’t come to Chelsea in the end, but we can’t take any of them seriously without stronger sources.

Of course we could have just stumped up the money that Sevilla wanted last summer. Then not only would we have him now, we would have had him for all of last season.

There’s talk that he didn’t like the way we prioritised other targets ahead of him – but we’re not sure if that’s true.
