How Barcelona can still help Chelsea this summer

Barcelona are running rings around Chelsea this summer, and the internet is full of memes about how they’ve gazumped us for multiple targets.

But the signing of Andreas Christensen – taken from our roster, plus the snatching of Raphinha and Jules Kounde from under our nose, may yet play into our hands.

All these signings are coming at massive cost, both in fees and in terms of the wage bill, and despite selling off chunks of their TV rights, Barca still need to sell at least one major player to balance the books.

They’ve chosen Frenkie de Jong as the man to go – but he’s not interested in going to Manchester United, who are the most keen to sign him.

Things are going to get desperate for them, and Catalan paper Sport is today reporting that things might reach the point where they have to start tempting other teams – with Chelsea and Bayern Munich named as possible destinations.
