Chelsea are moving fast for Marc Cucurella, and while he’s a good player, he doesn’t fill any of the most severe gaps in Chelsea’s squad.
One of those is at right wing back, where we saw multiple players used out of position to cover for Reece James when he wasn’t available.
James is so dominant that the team aren’t looking for a big name, just a dependable reserve. Denzel Dumfries of Inter is the name who has been mentioned most, but today Fabrizio Romano threw a new hat into the ring.
Excl: Chelsea are considering many options for right-back position, to be discussed after Cucurella. Kyle Walker-Peters, one of the options alongside Denzel Dumfries 🚨🔵 #CFC
Dumfries top of the list but Inter want to keep him, still no bid.

Kyle Walker-Peters is apparently on the Blues’ radar now, and is a name which has been “discussed internally.”
We’re not sure what that means exactly, other than that he’s someone they’ve thought about buying, and it hardly indicates we’re actually bidding for him, but it’s nice to have another name to throw onto the pile.
The Southampton right back looks perfect for an affordable backup option.

Let’s stop targeting but shoot the shut
