Chelsea’s latest summer signing is on the verge of completion.
The Evening Standard’s Nizaar Kinsella has been reporting on the Cesare Casadei deal since the first moment, and after a couple of weeks in limbo it’s finally rattling towards completion.
Kinsella has said the magic word that tells you any deal is on the way to being done “medical.”
He says that Chelsea “hope to arrange a medical for the box to box midfielder in the next 48 hours.”
The medical is always the last step before completion. You can’t carry one without the permission of the selling club, and they won’t grant it until you have a deal with them, and personal terms are usually long sorted by then. So once the medical is underway, you can only assume everything else is agreed and there are only formalities remaining.
There are still gaps to be filled, but this is another interesting signing.
