Marcos Alonso exchange ruled out of Aubameyang deal

Chelsea’s deal to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is rumbling on, with plenty of signs from all sides that a deal is close to being done.

The latest update from Ben Jacobs, who is certainly well connected on the Chelsea end, is that the Blues are no longer considering using Marcos Alonso as part of the deal.

The left back has long been a Barca target, and the last wave of updates about this potential signing claimed that he would be included as a part exchange.

As we’ve seen so often before though, it looks like that idea has been thrown into the rubbish. Even in situations like this, where both sides are up for the idea, it just proves too complicated to actually organise financially and legally.

We would still bet on Alonso ending this window at the Nou Camp, but it will be as part of a separate deal entirely.
