Wesley Fofana deal goes quiet even as Blue close in on Leicester clash

It was clear that it was very important for Chelsea to sign Wesley Fofana weeks ago if they wanted him. By now, he could have trained for a couple of weeks with his new colleagues, and maybe even had an appearance against Leeds yesterday.

Instead, haggling over the fee will mean a few things. Most importantly, we won’t see Fofana join this week because we play Leicester this weekend.

Even if they have accepted they’re going to sell him, they’re certainly not going to sell him in time to face us. They’ve had an even worse start to the season than we’ve had, and even if they leave him out of the squad as they did in their defeat yesterday, they’re certainly not going to allow him to play against them.

Yesterday’s defeat will likely spur us into action in the transfer market – but in this case it will be too late to help us immediately.
