Anthony Gordon tells Everton he wants to leave to join Chelsea

Anthony Gordon has continued his steady progress towards a transfer to Chelsea by telling his club and manager he wants to leave.

The shock links to the Everton player emerged little over a week ago, and while they seemed fanciful at first, it now sounds very likely he ends up joining Chelsea for big money.

David Ornstein of the Athletic has been all over this one, and he cites a price of £50m, with a further £10m in bonuses available should Gordon perform well.

Perhaps understandably, the winger is keen to leave his boyhood club who look set for a relegation battle this season, and join Chelsea. According to Ornstein, he’s already told his manager Frank Lampard of his decision, and the Toffees are now under serious pressure to sell.

Without a good alternative lined up however, they might be selling their best chance of Premier League survival this season.
