Hakim Ziyech seems to be closing in on a move from Chelsea back to Ajax.
That works for us, and it works for them. The only problem is that the Dutch side don’t have the money to make it a very lucrative exchange for Chelsea.
We’d be much better off selling to a Premier League rival – although that creates its own problems.
Rafael Van Der Vaart has been quoted on Football.London saying that he thinks Ziyech would be a good fit at his other old club – Spurs.
According to VDV, it would take a lot of the creative pressure off Harry Kane and Heung Min son.
“I’ve been saying that for some time now. I believe Ziyech is the type of player who could make a big impact in the current Spurs team,” he admitted.
“With a playmaker like him, chances are things will start to go much better. Then Son [Heung-min] doesn’t have to go deep to collect the ball and [Harry] Kane can just remain up front as a striker as well. They miss someone who can feed them those balls. Now they have to work too hard.”
Chelsea would certainly get more money by selling him to Tottenham. But is strengthening our rival really something we’re looking to do? We’re better off taking the lesser Ajax cash.
