Thomas Tuchel’s appeal against his punishment for his run in with Antonio Conte two weeks ago has been rejected, and the Chelsea boss will not be on the touchline tomorrow.
The Evening Standard were first with the news that the Chelsea boss’ touchline ban has been upheld, and that he won’t be able to coach his team from close proximity in tomorrow’s game against Leicester.
Tuchel’s handshake clash with Conte, along with his comments about the referee after the game, has now got him a fine and a ban, and he promised in his press conference today that he won’t comment on refs again.
Managers with touchline bans are still able to accompany the team to the stadium and in the dressing room, and it’s only physically out on the pitch where they can’t be present.
We expect to see some kind of headset action communicating with the touchline, even if that’s not in the spirit of the punishment.
