Wesley Fofana flown to USA for Boehly’s “peace of mind” in medical process

David “The Oracle” Ornstein has just dropped his latest nugget of information about the transfer of Welsey Fofana to Chelsea – and it’s rather a curious one.

The Athletic’s football correspondent says that the Leicester defender has flown to the USA for his Chelsea medical ahead of a mega money transfer to come this week.

Ornstein says it was Todd Boehly’s decision, in interest of “peace of mind,” and that all being well, the move to Chelsea will be announced this midweek.

The need for extra care in the case of Fofana is understandable, given it’s only a year since he had his leg broken terribly in a friendly against Villareal. But given every other medical takes place in Europe without issue, it’s odd to see him sent around the world in this case.

Regardless, he should be ready to go for next weekend, should we choose to use him right away.
