Hakim Ziyech has been picked to start for Chelsea tonight in their game against Southampton at St Mary’s, an interesting move from manager Thomas Tuchel.
The winger has just one appearance to his name so far this season – coming on as a sub against Leeds with his team already trailing 2-0.
He’s seemed very close to a move back to Ajax these last few days, and now that the Dutch club have sold Anthony to Manchester United, we expect Ziyech to head to Amsterdam before long.
The fact that Chelsea are set to start a player who is on the verge of leaving the club makes it very clear there’s major gaps in Thomas Tuchel’s squad, and this is likely a message to the board as much as it is a rotation decision.
To be fair, the 442 we’re going to play tonight will suit him, but it’s still odd to play a player who’s leaving.

Should not be even in squad, useless tonight like mount, havarts
