Michy Batshuayi’s Nottingham Forest transfer collapses after paperwork submitted late

Michy Batshuayi’s move to Nottingham Forest has collapsed because paperwork was submitted late, according to Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard.

The newly promoted side were hoping to take on his wages for the last year of his contract, but in the end a deal wasn’t completed before the deadline.

The Belgian striker is in a tricky spot now – because of homegrown rules, he can’t be registered in the squad now.

We’ve actually heard almost no rumours about a Batshuayi move all summer, and so it’s no surprise in a way that no destination has been found.

There are still places he can go – we expect a return to the Turkish league is most likely now, as their window is still open. Given he’s only got a year left on his contract, we could just terminate it and let him go to a team of his choice on a free transfer.

But it’s still all a bit of a farce.
