Sources in Spain are claiming that Marcos Alonso’s contract at Chelsea has been terminated so that the left back can join Barcelona on a free transfer.
It ends a saga that has rattled on all summer – and in the end won’t even be solved with the window now closed.

What had been reported earlier was that Alonso would join Barca in a part-exchange for Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, who is about to be announced as a Chelsea player.
That’s still the case, but it’s happening in a slightly messier way, as Chelsea will terminate the left back’s contract on the understanding he goes to Barca, with PEA already signed.
It’s not clear why it’s been done this way, and it can only be assumed it’s something to do with Barca’s messy financial situation going on. Either way, Alonso has played his last game for Chelsea, and gets his dream move at long last.
