Thomas Tuchel has come out after the game against West Ham and defended his goalkeeper Edouard Mendy after another dodgy performance.
The stopper’s flap at a corner led to the first goal, and his failure to collect the ball from Jarrod Bowen’s feet caused what should have been a second equaliser for the Hammers – although he was spared by VAR.
It all adds to the increasing pile of errors from the Senegal keeper, who just hasn’t been the same since the turn of the year.
Tuchel says Mendy may not be fit for the Champions League and insists his recent errors are just "unlucky". "He's been doing well in training."

Tuchel, as you’d expect, defended Mendy, saying he’s “been doing well in training” and that these recent error are just “unlucky.”
That is true in part, but there is just no denying that he’s in poor form and has been for a long time. We wouldn’t beg for Kepa to play in goal, but that says more about Kepa than it does about Mendy’s form.
