Chelsea ended up having a very busy week last week making a huge decision.
Thye announced the sacking of Thomas Tuchel on the Wednesday morning, and that was soon followed up by Graham Potter being announced as the new manager the day after.
Everyone has had their opinions on the decision, and it has caused a bit of an outrage amongst Chelsea fans who held Thomas Tuchel in high regard.
Sky pundit Paul Merson believes that it was a strange decision to sack Tuchel, but at the same time he believes that hiring Potter was an excellent decision.
Merson also thinks that Manchester United made a mistake not hiring Potter and choosing Eric Ten Haag instead.
Potter is certainly a quality up and coming manager and has done a lot of good work, but now he is stepping up to the biggest stage.
Sky pundit Paul Merson has been giving his views, as cited by The Manchester Evening News yesterday.
Merson said: “I think it was a really strange decision to sack Tuchel, but Graham Potter is a manager I really like. Working at this level is a different ball game, but Potter has shown in his time with Swansea City and Brighton that he’s more than capable of creating teams that can go toe-to-toe with the best in the business. I’ve said before that Manchester United should have got him ahead of Erik ten Hag and I stand by that statement.”
