The sacking of Thomas Tuchel will mean a “new lease of life” for Christian Pulisic according to the pundits at ESPN who were discussing the move last night.
They pointed out that his role so far this season had carried on where it left off – as a sparingly used sub later in games, with the occasional start in a lesser game thrown in.
Pulisic remains their “Captain America” over in the States, and almost all Chelsea coverage in their media is down to Pulisic’ presence in the squad.
Once he moves on, the circus will follow, hopefully.
It’s so odd – although understandable – to hear them talk about one player like this, with genuine excitement in their voices over the fact that a great manager’s sacking could benefit an average player.

Sadly, whether you like it or not, we’re here to stay. Whether it’s billionaires buying clubs, American players (and undeniably good ones at that) landing on your favorite teams we’re not going away. So you can keep carping on in the same condescending (but, frankly, infantile and often unintelligent) way if it makes you feel better, but the laughs on you, mate. You just look small and parochial when you play this card—over and over and over.
Time to grow up, put on some big boy pants and base your commentary on real analysis instead of a tired trope about Yanks not knowing football. Or is real commentary/analysis not something you do in England? Reading most of your pieces leaves a Yank to conclude not…but I believe you can be better.
