If you’ve been used to 15 years of never hearing a word from Chelsea’s owners, get ready for some change.
The new guys like to talk – a lot. Today we’ve had Todd Boehly sitting down at a conference somewhere and justifying his sacking of Thomas Tuchel in all manner of business speak, including repeated uses of the chilling phrase “human capital” to describe what he’s good at.
According to Boehly, the decision was made because they didn’t have a “shared vision for the future” with Tuchel. He didn’t go into any more detail than that on what exactly that meant.
Todd Boehly: “The reality of our decision was that we weren’t sure that Thomas saw it the same way we saw it. No one is right or wrong, we just didn’t have a shared vision for the future."

It’s a reasonable point of view, and not a scary one – if your vision of football is aligned more with the owners’ vision than with Tuchel’s.
If, like us, you suspect your vision of football is more like Tuchel’s than the owners’, it’s not a great reason to hear that your successful coach was sacked.
As much as I am grateful to Tuchel for everything he brought to the club, it wasn´t hard to see that since since preseason he wasn´t the same as before, his mood was somber and didn´t look happy anymore it also seemed that the players weren´t on the same page with him. I think Potter is a great coach and I´m backing him all the way.
Jeers to SuperFrank for the incessant anti-American slant in reporting. It really is unbecoming.
Cheers to Luis Enrique (and other commenters) for the thoughtful responses. I totally agree—nothing but love for Tuchel and wishing him all the best when he inevitably lands on his feet. BUT the results had been dipping too low for Chelsea standards well before the Boehly takeover. Hopefully Potter works out. He’s shown he can over-deliver with few resources. Let’s hope he can deliver trophies with copious resources.
This explains just about nothing, but of course we would n’t expect Boehly to enter a confrontation situation.
We shall see in the coming weeks.
If Harry Potter (who is also an able manager) fails to make Chelsea look like Real Madrid of their recent matches then the decision was unjustified.
I am highly disappointed with the Owner.
How on Earth inexperienced coach is better than the so call somber as he said.

You have been complaining about Tuchel for months now: – his negative tactics, his alienation of so many players, how he has lost the dressing room, his failure to bring the youngsters through, his lack of communication with the players and his failure to dominate lesser teams.
Hell even hios rock solid defence from last year has deserted him.
He had a team full of players who no longer wanted to play for him, Lukaku, Werner, Ziyach etc. That alone should have guaranteed him the sack.
And he was lucky to scrape into the top 4 last season.
It’s a bit rich now to claim him as the Second Coming!
And Werner and Ziyech came and told you that? Lukaku is sh*t in EPL…He was sh*t for Man U and then he was the same for us.
If you look at tuchel body language since marina and cech departure from Chelsea you’ll see that tuchel is not the same as last season and he’s not ready to move the team forward so, Todd don’t need to forcing him work together with he has to leave. Manager law is haired and faired lives goes on ‘can someone tell me that he /she knows that Chelsea will get another owner when Roman still alive’?. As a fan forget about the past and join hand to support the new manager.
I am so blue but I hope we lose today and also to Liverpool to see how business will be like with this owner. Well he has money so in inadvertently he is smart but for me it was a rash stupid decision. I hope he understands soccer….who sold our dear club to this guy
