Chelsea ‘still in contact’ and ‘very keen’ on signing player they failed to sign on deadline day

Chelsea had a very eventful and busy summer transfer window this year.

Not only were they behind everyone else due to the sanctions and the ownership changes, but they were also in a position of needing to replace some big-name players who were leaving and had contracts running out.

They certainly ended up spending big and managed to address most areas of concern on the pitch. Perhaps the only position they didn’t really fully get around to sorting out though was the midfield, despite a last-minute scramble on deadline day.

In the end, they ended up bringing in Denis Zakaria on loan from Juventus in that position, but they made offers for other midfielders as well.

One of which was Romeo Lavia from Southampton. As per the below report, after having a £50m offer to sign him on deadline day rejected, Chelsea are still very keen on signing him and are still in touch with his agent regarding a possible future move.
