Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was left surprised and shocked with recent comments from Chelsea owner Todd Boehly.
Boehly has floated the idea of an all-star football match North vs South in England in comments yesterday. It’s safe to say that Klopp would not be behind that idea, and even asked if Boehly wants to bring the Harlem Globetrotters over as well.

You can hear his full comments in the video below, but Klopp doesn’t think the idea is very good at all and players would not want to play it.

I’m an American and I hate “all-star” games. Yeah, it’s cool in concept to see all the big names on one field/court, but the games are generally meaningless and tend to lack an edge. Point is, I don’t have a problem mocking the idea of an EPL all-star game—especially given the existing fixture congestion for the biggest clubs.
That said, I recommend looking back at the whole of Boehly’s comments (which I found on a competing football news site). He’s looking at this as a businessman and he points out that Major League Baseball in American raked in over $200 million on it’s all-star game and related events over a two-day period. That money was shared with the various clubs. His point is that these types of ideas are huge potential revenue sources and innovations (whether it’s an “all-star” game or something more feasible) are essential to keeping the EPL ahead of La Liga and other rivals the world football arms race for the top talent. He has a point!
