Chelsea drew 1-1 with RB Salzburg in the Champions League group stages last night.
It was a game that just so happened to not only be Graham Potter’s first one in charge, but also the first ever Champions League match he has coached.

Everything was new, and the Chelsea players are getting used to a new manager as well and what he wants from them. There were some clear tactical differences on the pitch, but Chelsea suffered with the same old problems in the final third not making the most of all the possession.
After losing their opening game in the Champions League last week, Chelsea now have an uphill battle if they are to even make it out of the group, and they haven’t even played AC Milan yet.
However, club captain Cesar Azpilicueta believes that their fate is still in their own hands.
The defender was speaking after the game, as cited on the Chelsea website. He said: “After losing the first game [against Dinamo Zagreb] we were in a tough position and now it is a bit worse,’ Azpilicueta said, ‘but it is still in our hands and now we work hard and with a change of manager of course, we try to adapt as quickly as possible to get ideas and to affect them on the pitch.
“We play two games in a row against Milan and we have to be at our best level if we want to get the results and to go into the next stage.
“Of course we are disappointed with the result but I think there are as well a lot of positives to take. We will keep working hard now we have an international break and we then have a run coming with a lot of games every three days, and we have to be ready for it.
“The manager has made very clear what he wanted from the players individually and as a team and we have to keep working. We know that we can do better, we have a big room for improvement, we need to keep sticking together and working hard and hopefully the results will arrive.”
