Brighton star suggested as new Chelsea signing

Fabrizio Romano’s column at Caughtoffside is always full of interesting nuggets, including not just rumours but also the insider’s opinions on what he thinks clubs should do.

That’s the case today, where he talks about Graham Potter’s project at Chelsea. Romano says that he thinks Moises Caicedo from the coach’s old team Brighton would be a great signing.

He said that the Seagulls aren’t likely to let the Ecuador star go in January, but that next summer we could see a major bidding war for him.

“At the moment there are no negotiations for Caicedo, we will see in the next months what happens,” Romano said.

“I think it’d be great for them to work together again, Caicedo is a brilliant player but Brighton project deserves some respect, so I’m not sure they will be open to let Caicedo go already in January.”

With N’Golo Kante’s contract expiring, at the end of the season, it could be a great opportunity for Caicedo to make the step up.

It’s a shame that Yves Bissouma already made the switch to Tottenham in the summer – we saw what amazing performances that Potter was able to get out of him.

But Caicedo has stepped into his shoes in impressive fashion, and Chelsea could well catch the next cab off the rank.
