Barcelona links to Jorginho keep growing with no new contracts on the horizon

The rumbling about a Jorginho move to Barcelona has picked up a little pace.

Two days ago we heard whispers from Tom Hopkinson of the Sunday Mail, as reported by Simon Phillips of this site.

That’s now been followed up by chatter in Spain of a similar nature.

The midfielder’s contract runs out at the end of this season, and he’s shown no signs of wanting to sign a new deal, so we expect this story only to grow.

The latest reports are that Barca aren’t considering him, but given this move wouldn’t take place for 9 months, that’s no surprise.

Unfortunately for Chelsea, players who get into their last year of contract rarely end up extending when they know they can go to the highest bidder in the summer. Some fans won’t be unhappy to lose him, but to allow another free transfer to walk away without compensation is further evidence of the terrible mismanagement of the squad over the last few years.

  1. Why on earth would we want to keep him?

Quite apart from the fact that he is alow and cannot defend, we are brimming over with midfield talent to replace him
