Rather than preparing for a game every 3 days as he would have expected, Graham Potter finds himself with three weeks to work with his players before they’re in action again.
It’s perfect timing for him, as he’s only just arrived at the club, and according to Nizaar Kinsella he’s using the time to get to know players individually, as well as work out how his team is going to work.
Much has been made of the new coach’s “masters in leadership emotional intelligence,” and it seems he’s putting it to good use here. He’s meeting players one by one and figuring out where they stand, what they want and what they need.

There are only 11 spots in the team, and there are more than 25 players competing for them, so there are bound to be disappointed faces every week.
It’s how Potter deals with them that matters, and that’s a major challenge.
