Chelsea have missed out on signing RB Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund, in a move that looked nailed on until yesterday.
Freund had agreed to join Chelsea to become their next sporting director. However, he seemed to make a big U-turn and have a change of heart yesterday when he announced that he would be staying at Salzburg.
This left Chelsea now needing to turn to other options as they look to soon appoint a new sporting director.

Paul Mitchell from Monaco is the next on the list and as per the report, talks reopened between him and Chelsea yesterday. The club might still even wait for Michael Edwards, who was always the number one target.
