Why AC Milan coach thinks Empoli will be a bigger test than Chelsea

AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli has been speaking about his side’s upcoming double header against Chelsea, and he claimed that their game against Empoli next weekend is the “most difficult match.”

It sounds provocative, but as he went on to explain, it was no insult to Chelsea, it’s just a matter of timing.

When he faces Empoli he will have had minimal preparation, and his players will all be fresh from their international break.

By the time his side get to the Chelsea game the following week, they will have had time together, even if the Blues are a stronger opposition.

Like any good manager, he’s clearly focused on making sure his squad take their season game by game, and don’t get distracted by the game after next.

Let’s hope Graham Potter is doing the same – we can’t afford to slip up against Crystal Palace in our equivalent game either.
