Mourinho refused to comment on speculation that Rooney could end up at Stamford Bridge.
United are confident the England star will stay at Old Trafford, but Chelsea are monitoring the situation.
“I don’t want to speak about it. We play Manchester United in a few days and I don’t think it’s nice to speak about a Man United player.”
When asked about Rooney’s negotiations at United, the Chelsea boss said: “You’ll have to ask the player and Man United, because they have a contract with the player that doesn’t end at the end of the season.”
