Things have gone a little quiet on the sporting director front at Chelsea since the disappointment of losing out on Christophe Freund of RB Salzburg.
The Blues were adamant they had their man, yet he ended up pulling out of the move and staying in Austria instead.
Chelsea had to go back to the drawing board and reach out to some other names. According to The Guardian, Bayer Leverkusen’s Tim Steidten is the one most advanced right now after a recent round of positive talks.
However, it doesn’t seem like there is anything advanced with him either as of yet, and it also states that Chelsea could look at internal candidates for the role.
The new sporting director will need to work with Potter’s trusted recruitment analyst, Kyle Macaulay. The report claims that Macaulay has already made a strong impression on staff at Chelsea. I wonder if he might be considered for promotion already?
